As a child I was raised with the knowledge that my father's family was of American Indian descent, but after decades of my grandfather trying to hide this, there was little knowledge of details.
My great uncle and I were blessed to find and complete our genealogies as far back as the late 1500s
We found that our family were considered Metis people, meaning our family had been "Mixed Bloods" from as far back as the early 1600's.
Our heritage is Canadian First Nations Mi'kmaq , Abenaki, Metis .
All my adult life I had attended Pow Wows. After having my genealogy completed, the longing to "take part", to become a member of the Native community seemed a more valid desire, so I created The Metis Cabin as a Pow Wow booth that travels throughout New England and New York during pow wow season.
We have had so much positive feedback about our hand crafted jewelry, that creating this website has become the most natural next step in making our products and our booth accessible to our friends and valued clients year round.
If you saw something in the booth that you didn't pick up but have decided you want, please don't hesitate to contact us. The item you want might still be available or could possibly be recreated for you.
All the best,

born of Natures imperfect offerings.
